EAYR Summer Regatta 2025
In July, we held a regatta in which students from North Cambridge Academy, Coleridge School and Long Road Sixth Form College participated. The day was filled with excitement, from races on the water to students cheering each other on from the bank. For many of the pupils, it was their first experience of competitive rowing - their confidence grew throughout the day with each race.

There were 20 races, held in stable quad boats, where groups of five (4 rowers + 1 cox) would be put in a boat and sent to race another side by side for a distance of 250m. It tested each groups ability to row together while at race pace and the cox's ability to steer towards the finish line without hitting the boat next to them, due to the narrow nature of the river cam, after every race each student showed more and more confidence when coming up to the start line. This is exactly the experience we want to offer: showing that rowing is not only a fun sport but also all levels can be accessible to all.

EAYR belives that the sport should be open to everyone and this event reflected that; students from all backgrounds competed together, showing that the joy of rowing comes through teamwork, resilience and confidence built through the experience. This would not have been possible without the amazing students and teachers from each school showing cooperation and enthusiasm for each and every race throughout the day.
